I know my chances are low but I took the MCAT twice and got a 489 and a 493 (after taking a Kaplan class). I don't think I have the energy to take it again. I have a MS degree with a 3.3 gpa and a BS degree with a 3.44 gpa. I think my sGPA is a 3.2. I have research experience, had an internship at a national lab, and clinical experience working as a nursing assistant in a big hospital.

I want to go the DO route but not sure if I even have a shot in hell. Anyone got a success story with similar stats?

that mcat score is around 27th percentile...it wont get you in anywhere. I think you may have to buckle down for one last time and build endurance for the mcat. If you can murder the MCAT on the third try, i reckon some DO schools will give you a chance if you take extra classes and do more EC between this cycle and the next.

It will be an incredible uphill battle but I've read some stories on here (less than 3.0 GPA) and still got into a DO school. So if you are serious about this, you can definitely pull it off.

With MCAT scores that low you are at high risk for failing out of med school or failing boards. I cannot recommend applying to medical school.

You really need to buckle down and retake if you want a shot at medical school. If you can't break 500 on the 3rd time you should be looking at plan B.

I took the Kaplan course and scored a 26/501.... It just didn't work for me. One my third attempt I used the Kahn Academy videos and got a 511... look into those videos AAMC "approves" those videos for study for the MCAT... it worked for me so just a suggestion... Good luck!
