Hi guys,

I was hoping you could give me a little insight to determine whether or not I'm a good candidate for MSUCOM specifically or any lower tier MD schools in Michigan. I am a Michigan resident.

3.5 cGPA
3.3 sGPA
9/9/9 ~ 27 MCAT

2 years experience in a research lab
2 years experience as a teaching assistant
Over 150 volunteer hours at miscellaneous places
Over 200 shadowing and clinic hours
EC: Working hands on in the OR at a hospital, chair for a medical relief organization at my college, international experience in the Dominican Republic last summer, member of a medical fraternity
3 stellar letters of recommendation from science profs

I am very interested in attending MSUCOM but I'm slightly worried about my GPA and MCAT. I know it is technically around their average but I would really like a guaranteed admission.

I was planning on taking the MCAT again in January but I haven't had enough time to study this semester so I think I'm going to cancel my spot.

Let me know what you think and I would be happy to provide any more information!

😆

You are low for MD. You can try for state schools but don't get your hopes up.

For DO you're OK but you might not get into Michigan. Guarantees are impossible. You can retake and get a 45. Still no guarantee. Just apply to a good amount of DO programs early on next cycle and you should be OK.

apply early and I think you can get an ii for most DOs. Submit your aacomas in july.

did we mention apply early?
