So...

My first year terrible:

Winter Semester:2010
Chinese: A-
Microbiology: A
English: A
Calc 2: withdrew 😡 (soo dumb.)

Spring semester: 2010 (began studying for the MCAT)
cell biology: B+

Junior Year: (began studying for the MCAT)
Fall Semester:
Art History: A
Calc 2: B+
History: B+

Winter Semester: (still studying for the MCAT :\)
English 5030: A-
English 3140: A-
Genetics: B
English 3120: B+
Computers 😴: B

soo...obviously my g.p.a reflects, I'm lazy?

extra curriculars:
Hospital Volunteering: 7 months
SASEA: (RAPE Hotline): 1 year
Microbiology Student Instructor: 1 year+

I had a medical condition my first year, which motivated me to become a doctor -->personal statement.
-some super awesome teacher recommendations from my Orgo and Micro professors, as well as a professor i have worked with.

I want a 36 on my MCAT (this may be unrealistic). I'm at a 30 with disjointed light/hardcore studying, i have two more months till the MCAT, and I'm applying this summer.

do i apply early? wait till after my MCAT score?
HELP!:scared:

What is your BCPM?
Have you considered waiting a year to raise your GPAs further, beef up your clinical experience, and get in the usual amount of physician shadowing? The nonmedical community service and teaching look good. Any leadership or plans for research?

I'm planning on shadowing this summer before I turned in my app, I don't have much leadership experience, since I figured my student instruction job is titled S.I Leader. Would getting a solid score on my MCAT be of any help for a state school like Wayne State or Michigan State?

my back up plan was graduating on time with English honors major and then becoming an EMT and doing research for a year, possibly taking some upper level biologies.

thank yoU!

My BCPM: 3.47 :/

will a good MCAT score even help me?

Per 2011-2012 MSAR, median acceptee stats for MSU=3.6/30, and for Wayne=3.7/31. So, with a 3.54 cGPA, assuming a recent upward grade trend in the sciences, to appeal to these two schools, you'd aim for an MCAT score of 31-33 (respectively).

Using AAMC data, one can extrapolate that with your cGPA, your overall chances for an acceptance with MCAT of 29=35%, with 32=55%, with a 35=65%, with a 38=72%. Of course, with a downward grade trend, your chances would be lower than those cited.

Generally Student Instructor would be listed under Teaching, unless you were coordinating other instructors and taking on some management responsibility. JMO.

i think i'm going to go ahead and take my mcat, work on my apps and see where i go from there.

thank you for taking the time and replying :] i appreciate it very much
