Hey all,

Got my scores back today and I am absolutely devastated...I was scoring in the low to mid 20's on my practice tests and on my final practice test before I took it I got a 30. The breakdown of my score was 7-6-8. I thought I did much better of Verbal than I actually did, but was getting anywhere from 6-9 on practice tests on Verbal. I have already applied and am verified for both MD & DO. I don't know what to do at this point, I am going to continue and see if I get any secondaries since I will already be considered a reapplicant. I am wondering if I have enough time to retake in September?

My EC's are great:
-I've been a scribe in the ED for 3+ years, and have been a scribe trainer for over a year.
-1 month missions trip to Ethiopia
-Research
-Hospital volunteer-115 hours
-Medical clinic volunteer for a couple years off and on
-Tutored both High school Chemistry and Algebra my entire Senior year of college
amongst a few other little volunteer opportunities...

I would appreciate your guys' advice!

I should add that I have 5 LOR's that I am confident are strong letters, including a premed committee letter.

Here are my list of schools:
MD:
-Loma Linda
-UCR
-UCI
-USC
-UCLA
-UCSD
-Rush Medical College
-OHSU
-University of Colorado-Denver

DO:
-Midwestern-IL
-Western-CA

But what about the DO schools? I am going to restart studying tomorrow and have been looking up on the website for open seats every 15 minutes for the past few hours for an open spot sometime in September...

The DO cycle is longer and an increase of 5 points would help you there, even for this cycle.

Unfortunately both options would almost assuredly be a waste of time at this point. You have to bring that score up for a shot at DO.

Waste of money to apply either to MD or DO. You need to retake to have a chance. Your EC are not great either. They are average and seem to lack shadowing.

Scribing is pretty much like getting paid to shadow, but better...I don't think I need to do a few days of shadowing on top of what I've been doing. I've been a scribe for 3+ years working with multiple specialists. But anyways, I have yet to find an open spot in September, I have been looking practically every 15 minutes. Already started re-studying...
