3.623sGPA, cGPA 3.718, MCAT ?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
MY advice: take the MCAT before you start worrying about which schools to apply to.

Best of luck!

"Tiers" are for law schools. When referring to med schools, all of whose students must pass identical licensing exams, to be "politically correct" we look more at how "selective" a school is, referring to MCAT and GPA of past acceptees.

Your cGPA and BCPM are both just above the mean for those accepted to MD schools (3.6/3.6). Mean MCAT score is 30.8, so the higher you score above that, and the higher you boost your GPA before applying, then the more selective the schools you can aspire to. The most selective schools will also expect a higher intensity of ECs, including, typically, 2+ years of research, strong leadership, service to those in our community without adequate economic resources, and interesting accomplishments in other diverse areas (like maybe Bioethics, in your case).

You didn't mention physician shadowing. Try to get that in before you apply.

Of course you should apply to your state schools, all of which are difficult to get into. To aid your success, know the mission of your preferred schools and be sure your ECs demonstrate that you are their type of person. But apply OOS too, to insure that you get an acceptance somewhere.

Your input is very much appreciated. Would it make a difference if I was able to list awards and recognitions? (Exemplary Service, Outstanding Dedication and a "Cause for Applause" Recognition Letter)
