I am a florida resident at a top 10 university and am applying this cycle. What are my chances with a 3.63 cGPA, 3.5 sGPA, and a 30O on the MCAT? I would like to go to a medical school in Florida if possible.

Should I take the MCAT again in August and apply late? Or apply with the score I have and wait to take the MCAT again if I end up having to?

Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks

Also I have good ECs (including Volunteering, Shadowing, A cappella) and have been doing research for 2 years

A 30 MCAT and a 3.6 GPA are a bit on the lower end for some of the upper tier Florida schools. As to whether or not you should take the MCAT, were you scoring much higher on your practice exams?

If not, I'm not sure there's enough time for you to re-prep and significantly improve your score to take the MCAT at a reasonable time (i.e. by the mid-July). If your practice scores were much higher than 30, on the other hand, perhaps it might be worth a second look.

is your score balanced? whats the break down?

according to aamc https://www.aamc.org/download/157450/data/table24-mcatgpagridall2008-10.pdf.pdf

you have a 72% chance of getting in, your ECs look decent. And since you would like to go to Florida, you probably have a higher chance than that.

I think youre good. Don't retake unless it is really imbalanced.

My breakdown is 11 bio, 10 verbal, and 9 physical

Those stats can be misleading especially because OP is on the lower end of the bracket you're looking at. With just 0.04 GPA points less they would be at 55.5% and 1 fewer MCAT point would put them at 51.5%. Whereas it would take 0.17 GPA points or 3 MCAT points to put them in the next bracket(s).

that is a good balance and yes, I do agree with the post above. you have a 50-70% chance of getting into a medical school. + youre a FL resident which increases your chances if you want to say in state.

So would you suggest applying with the score I have and if nothing pans out then take the MCAT again and reapply next year?

Is there any disadvantage to reapplying?

Also, can I take the MCAT in August and not mention it in the AMCAS application so that they don't wait for that score?
