I'm a Pennsylvania resident looking to apply to schools in the general area of PA/VA/NY/NJ/MD and have a 3.69 GPA (my CBPM is like a 3.68). My MCAT breakdown was 9/9/8/Q. I have done volunteering over 200+ hours, work at a hospital for over 200+ hours and I'm doing clinical research at PCOM under a physician right now for the summer. I'm also in about 6 clubs at my school (West Chester) and I tutor chemistry as well. My main concern is my MCAT score, but I am not sure if the time and energy I put into raising my score will even count in the end, I don't see myself getting much higher than a 30 which isn't even a guarantee to MD school. I could also get a lower/similar score which would only hurt me. Should I retake it or what?

It's highly unlikely that you would get into a MD school with a 26. A 30 would definitely make you competitive. If you study for a long time, say three to four months, and do it consistently, and maybe take a course on top of that, I don't see why you can't break 30. One-two points each in each of the sections is going to take hard work, but its not beyond the realm of possibility.

With your current MCAT score, your chances of being accepted into an MD school are very slim. If you got your score up to 30 (with no single section less than 9), your chances would be much higher than they are now. You'd be in the running for PSU, Temple, Jeff and Drexel (plus some other OOS private schools).

If you don't retake the MCAT, there's little reason to even apply to MD schools. Maybe you can apply to the four mentioned above, but that's it. If you don't retake the test, shift your focus towards Osteopathic schools.
