I took the MCAT early in my college years and it ended up expiring before I was ready to apply, hence my second (and lower) score. I have four years of research experience, two publications (second author), a poster, 80 hours shadowing different physicians, multiple study abroad experiences, tons of various community activities and solid letters of rec, in addition to medical trips to Morocco, S. Korea, and Dominican Republic. (I've taken three years off since graduation).

These are the schools I'm applying to--should I add or delete any of them from my list? How competitive is my application? Should I add DO schools?

Albert Einstein
Creighton
Dartmouth
Drexel
George Washington
Loma Linda
Loyola
Medical College of Wisconsin
Mount Sinai
New York Medical College
Northwestern
OHSU
UW
Rosalind Franklin
Rush
Tufts
Tulane
UC Pritzker
University of Maryland
University of Michigan
Unviersity of Minnesota
University of Rochester
U of Washington
Cornell

Thanks!

It's unfortunate that yout MCAT expired, but I don't think that you need to go DO. You've got monster ECs, so I think you'll get in somewhere. What is your state of residence?

I'd remove Rush and UW, as they don't take a lot of OOS people.

Overall, that sounds like a pretty good list for you. Go for it.

I only have on suggestion to add, which is that applying to Loma Linda probably isn't a good idea if you aren't a Seventh Day Adventist or someone who is very comfortable with their beliefs/lifestyle. It's a wonderful program if you are SDA or have similar beliefs, but if you aren't it may not be the most comfortable place to be.

Otherwise, it looks like a great list, your stats and EC's look super, and I wish you the best of luck!

If you don't mind me asking, how did your MCAT score drop two after a few years?

Any idea?

seems a little odd

But you look solid anyways

Good luck

congratulations on your amazing extracurriculars, and honestly, you should be so proud of the fact that you were still able to pull a good score after taking time off. i just took the MCAT a month ago, and even if you ask me to take it again today, i know that my score would be nowhere near where it was then. i disagree with lovewalk- i think it's only natural for your score to drop when you're not enrolled in the classes and props to you for not letting it drop by much. good luck this cycle!
