Hello fellow pre-meds

I recently took the May 22nd, 2010 mcat and just got my score back yesterday. I am really discouraged now because i ended up with a 27p (7 v, 9ps, 11 bs). this would be my second time taking the mcat with my first score being a 26 (7v, 9ps, 10bs) which I took in Jan 2010. Over the course of the 4 monthes in between, I studied really hard for the second test but ended up not preforming well.

I have 12-13 excellent ECs and some strong LORs. I live in Maryland and attended UMD college park and graduated this year.

So now its June 23rd and my AMCAS is finished and I;m debating on which schools to choose, should I even apply this year, should i consider DO or caribbeans (which i am leaning away from).

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thank you

There are a few US allopathic med schools that have a 7 as their bottom tenth percentile, but with the low overall MCAT score you are unlikely to get their attention. You'd probably do well applying to DO med schools however. I'd suggest that over Caribbean application.

If you feel the score was a fluke, then retake ASAP.

I am in the same boat. I got a 27 on my MCAT which is such a rip off because I screwed up in verbal and got a 7. I have a 3.89 science GPA and 3.87 Cumulative.

I have applied to like 22 schools but I just feel like I am wasting my money with secondaries. GRR. I can't even IMAGINE starting to study for the MCAT again... that had to be the most miserable time in my life.🙁

As long as most of those were DO, you should be fine..
