So I have a 3.76 gpa, 3.72 sgpa, I have 200 clinical volunteer hours, and 100 non clinical volunteer hours. I have 50 shadowing hours, and I am the treasurer of the Pre dental association at my university (I was pre dental before I switched). I have worked at a cardiologist, and I work 2 jobs right now (school job and pharmacy tech.). I have no research, and I’m going to take my MCAT next spring. I’m starting my junior year of college next week. Where do I stand so far as an applicant, and how can I improve. I am super busy with studying for school and I’m studying for my MCAT now and throughout this year because of my jobs and school. I am a bit worried.

So we don’t really need to have research?
You do if you're going for a top 20 school.

Goro has said his word on research not being imperative so I won't go against him but medicine is essentially applied research and you'll have to do research during medical school anyways.

If you can find a lab that allows you to do your own research and not one where the PI dumps his/her dirty work on you, then you'll find a lot of room to grow.

Okay thanks!
