I will be applying this cycle as a CA applicant: 3.8/33 balanced with some generic extra curriculars
2 years research
2 years volunteer work
some shadowing here and there
one summer of non medical volunteer work
Since I am from CA, I'm pretty paranoid about not getting into one of my state schools. So far, the list looks like
VCU
NYMC
LLU (I know the religious ties)
Loyola
Rosa
V tech?Albany?EVSM?ASU?
UCI
UCD
UCR
UCSD
UCLA
UCSF
USC
Dartmouth
Brown?Georgetown?
OHSU
Umiami?
Einstein
Jefferson?
Temple
Tufts/BU?
Wake
M. Wisconsin
OSU
Mayo
Nwestern
Cornell
Case
Vandy
Sinai/Columbia?
UVA/Mich?
Obviously, I need to cut down the list, but I have no idea which schools I can consider a match, and which should be a reach. I'd also like help with the question marks. I'm not too sure which ones out of those are worth applying to, and which ones I'm just tossing money down the drain.
Also, if anyone knows of any schools with lower number of apps to out of state acceptances, please let me know.
I honestly don't think I'm competitive for CA, and even then, I would not mind leaving CA for 4 years.
Thanks for the help.
