Hey, please let me know what you think:

I have a high GPA, currently 3.82 at a UC, and 4.0 transferred from community college, combine them for an estimated AAMC GPA of 3.9. I earned an MCAT score of 30P (P:11 V:10 B:9).

Volunteer:
250+ hours of volunteer work at a hospital and a student-run free clinic.

Leadership:
I am president and founder of an organization that helps provide the poor with free health screening.

Teaching:
I have experience in teaching genetics and tutoring chemistry.

Research:
I have eight months of research experience at a lab studying neurodegernative disease.

Clinical Experience:
Physician shadowing: shadowed two MDs and two DOs for a total of 100 hours.

Here are the schools I'm currently looking at:

University of Kentucky
Hershey College of Medicine
University of Iowa
KCUMB-COM
ATSU-KCOM
WesternU-COMP
UC San Diego
UCLA
UC Davis

Thanks!

I imagine you're a Cali resident? And are you applying next year? If yes for both, then you have a solid chance somewhere, but I recommend you work on your ECs, particularly in the community service department. Being from cali will be somewhat detrimental, as your MCAT is a little low, however your gpa is great.

Great shot at DO schools btw, I'd imagine you'd have a great chance at almost all of them.

You look solid except for community volunteering. I think you'll have a successful run when you apply. Maybe even a California school might extend an invitation.

Thanks! Yes, I am applying to enter in 2013. And I go to school in California but I'm not a resident (grew up in a foreign country, and dependent on my parents' resources, they don't pay CA taxes, grr) I am thinking about retaking the MCAT but I fear the score might go lower, I honestly didn't think I deserved that score and I'm quite grateful for it.
