Hey, I'm a non-Cali resident looking to apply to California schools. Is it too late for this cycle? If it is it's not too big of deal, as I took summer classes and will graduate in 3 years, so I have a year to burn haha. UCSD and Stanford seem pretty cool, but they're probably too hard for an OOS, right? If I apply next year instead, what should I work on while I wait?

Here's my stats and stuff:

MCAT: 39 (PS 12, V: 13, BS 14)

- Founded and maintained the first Alpha Epsilon Delta chapter at university.
- Served on Pre-Med Club as liason between Pre-Med Club and Alpha Epsilon Delta chapter.

Your stats are golden for the Golden State schools, even the UC system. Stanford does not have OOS bias.

What you do lack is any patient contact experience. Without this. I think you'd be wait-listed like many other qualified posters who have been in exactly your position. You have plenty of shadowing but now you have to show AdComs that you want to be around sick and injured people for the next 40 years.

Uhhh yea. You will be competitive for anywhere you apply. Now it will be about where is willing to offer you a full ride scholarship.

It depends. Has your primary been verified yet? If not, then yes, it is too late. If you have been verified, you should be okay as long as you pump out all your secondaries in the next week or two.

Well.. you have a bright future ahead of you. Nice going man. Aim high.

It's important to draw the line between giving somebody hopeful optimism and just making **** up. You're in the latter category right now. Even for very high stat applicants full ride scholarships aren't just growing on trees.

Anyway OP, if you apply early next cycle I think you'll likely have a number of acceptances to choose between, quite possibly including California schools. If you haven't already submitted your application this season, however, I'd save your money for next year.

He's more than just a high stats applicant, his EC's are basically stellar. I understand a scholarship is never simply a given. I can't speak to California schools specifically. but if there is ever a person who would be a strong candidate, then the OP is pretty much it. So relax with the hostility.
