University of California Irvine Medical Center
Three Radiation Oncology residency positions are available for residents at the PGY-2 level to begin July 1, 2008. Interviews will likely begin July 2007 and are expected to be completed prior to the start of the regular 2008 ERAS/NRMP recruitment cycle. The Program is sponsored by the University of California, Irvine. As an integrated program, residency training is conducted at the University of California, Irvine Medical Center, Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Long Beach, Memorial Medical Center of Long Beach, and City of Hope National Medical Center. The Residency in Radiation Oncology is designed to prepare physicians for successful careers in clinical and scientific radiation oncology. The program of study is also designed to meet the requirements of the Radiation Oncology section of the American Board of Radiology’s specialty examination. For the latest information on the residency’s accreditation status, interested applicants are invited to speak with the program director. The Program offers a four year training program in Radiation Oncology following the successful completion of a preliminary training year with at least 9 months of patient care. Applicants will also be expect to fulfill the general criteria set forth for residents by the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine. for those of you who did not match and chose to do your intern year: good luck. for those of you who did not match and chose to do a research year: hopefully your research will help you out in a later match.
 
I was going to do an away rotation here, but I was told that they wouldn't be accepting any new PGY-2 spots in 2009. But now there's 3 more for 2008?

Does that mean there will be 3 in 2008 and none in 2009? Does this have anything to do with the probation status of the program? Is it not polite to even ask about this?
