Case Western vs. UAB vs. VCU

and

Kentucky vs. Georgia Regents vs. SLU

I can't switch dates. I looked on their websites, SDN and matchapplicants and can't decide which program would provide the best education. Location doesn't matter to me nearly as much as training. Does anyone have thoughts?

For the second interview the rank would prob go Kentucky>GRU>SLU (from what I have heard).

I think you should stop whining and cancel the 4 interviews to give other ppl them sooner than later so they don't have to pay as much for last minute plane tickets 🙂

UAB, as in University of Alabama Birmingham, is widely known to have a top-notch Ophtho program. I don't know much about Case Western, but I'd put UAB at the top of those three and I doubt that many others would disagree. UAB does have in house call at their Eye-ER if that's a factor for you. I matched elsewhere but UAB was near the top of my list even though their work load scared me a bit, just because of how good their program is supposed to be. Seemed pretty good on the interview day too. The pre-interview dinner at UAB is not to be missed as well, I had a great time.

Group 1: I would pick between UAB and Case.

Group 2: I've heard great things about the clinical training at the SLU program. I would pick SLU over Georgia. Dunno much about the Kentucky program.

Group 1: UAB. Great surgery numbers, high clinical volume, and good fellowship matching. In house call is busy, but you have the post call day off, and you see a ton of pathology. Also, there are fellows who moonlight during many calls.

Group 2: I've heard good things about Kentucky and MCG with the former probably having the best reputation by word of mouth of the three.

Thank you all for your input! I appreciate the help.

My 2 cents...

Group 1: UAB clearly the best

Group 2: SLU in my opinion, but not significantly different from the other programs listed.
