Ok. I will have 3 W's on my transcript, 2 that are science and 1 that was a history class.

I just dropped with a W in a science class yesterday because lots of different reason, now I can actually study for the mcat because that class was taking up so much study time.

Anyways, sorry for ranting, does 2 science withdraws look bad, or 3 total? My science gpa will be around a 3.37 when I apply to med schools. (DO obviously)

Depends on your MCAT score. Score poorly and those 3 W will look pretty bad, combined with your below average GPA. Score highly on the MCAT and you'll get a chance to explain away your W and schools will be more forgiving on your GPA.

W's have been discussed endlessly on SDN.

Does it look good? No

Will it hurt your application? Less than a D or F and depending maybe less than a C.

How many are too many? Who knows. Depends on YOUR application and the particular school, but I don't know of any DO school that has a specific limit on W's. If you W a class and then make an A or B on the next try it's unlikely to hurt too much, but again it depends on the strength of your overall application (gpa, MCAT, etc)

Will you have to explain why W? Maybe/Maybe not, but be ready to explain and don't sound like you are making excuses.

Is a W in a science class worse than one in non-science? Often, but depends on other mentioned factors.

Should you W the same class several times and then make a C? Not a smart move, but if you did it 15yrs ago and show now where you have gotten things together then it will matter less.

Ok thanks guys, clears up a lot. Looks like I need to rock my mcat.
