Hi everyone, it's nice to see so much positive talk about acceptances and whatnot. Anyhow, I'll cut to the chase. I tried doing a search on this topic, but the server wouldn't cooperate, so here goes nothin'. I attend the U. of Wisconsin Whitewater, a D3 school known mostly for its MBA program. Anyways, I've been delighted to find that there is a nice (in my opinion) little pre-med program here, with a helpful and knowledgeable advisor. Upon speaking with him, I've found out that Bio. major pre-meds at UWW have two options: 1.) 4-year BS program with Cell Phys. major, or 2.) 3-year "Early Entrance Pre-Professional Bio. Emphasis." The three year program, as you'd expect, is very intense, with heavy science courseloads the first four semesters, followed by the Aug. MCAT after the spring sem. of "sophomore" year. I began the year pre-pharm, and am now making the switch, but I'm a bit divided on this subject. The literature states that the last 30 credits needed to complete the BS will transfer back from Med. School, so this obviously implies that taking this route will force the applicant to do so without a degree in-hand (or soon to be). If anything, that is the most discouraging part of the deal, as most schools show strong preference for applicants with degrees (correct?). I guess I'm just asking for a bit of advice, as I'd like to let the Bio. dept. know which program I'm choosing before my school starts spring break (this fri.). I apologize for the lengthiness, and I thank you in advance for your time.
