Hi!

So I retook my mcat a third time and brought it up 4 points to a 32R. My undergrad was a 3.45 with an sGPA of something like 3.5-3.6. I ended up doing a 9 month masters program at Rush University in which I attained a 4.0.

I've done research in three different labs, one which has a pending publication in which I'm second author. I'm currently working in one full time as a QA/Research Tech.

From a volunteer perspective I have 3 years of volunteering at a home healthcare agency running their computers and helping with patient chart organization, etc.

Applied last year but failed (low MCAT/ Late submission).

24 year old half white half asian male, and an Illinois resident.

I'd like to stay in the midwest, but am open to going elsewhere. The reach school I applied to for this cycle is going to be Einstein and Tufts. The other schools currently in queue are mid level to low schools like CMS, Loyola, Rush, etc.

So, what does everyone think of my chances?

Also, any recommendations?

Thanks in advanced!

First off--I applaud your dedication OP in taking the MCAT 3 times!

You seem OK number wise but where are your clinical hours? You volunteered at home health running computers and patient chart organization but how many hours do you have actually working with patients? I think that's a key component missing and would help other users give you a more accurate prediction of your chances.

Thanks for the reply!

A lot of patient experience hours were interlaced in the home health care service. Through them is actually how I got excellent shadowing opportunities as well. Aside from actually doing IT work, etc, I was able to actually do some "ride alongs" to patients who were in the area. I made sure to mention this in my apps as well.
