Do I have a shot at any top medschools with a 37Q (12 bs, 12 vr, 13 ps) and a 3.4 gpa? I also have a lot of volunteer/clinical experience and great ECs and LoRs, and I will be shadowing over the winter. I realize I won't get into Harvard or anything like that, but how high on the list should I apply with a reasonable chance of getting in?

You might reasonably aim for any of these schools:

Emory, Dartmouth, NYU, Ohio State, UCSF,
UCF, USCal, Boston, Tufts, SLU, Einstein, Rochester,
Colorado, UConn, Georgetown, Miami, Iowa, Maryland, UMinn, Stony Brook, Wake, Cincinnati, Penn State, UWisconsin.

Depending on the reason for your low GPA, possibly some schools would give less weight to the freshman year, or one bad semester with a good excuse, but for the most part it may be best to avoid schools where your cGPA is below their bottom tenth percentile (per the MSAR), unless you have special circumstances or could provide a diverse element to the school.

thanks for the list! I appreciate it very much. I have a lot of thinking to do haha.
