Got my MCAT score back and was shocked to see a 500 (124/122/127/127) for the 3rd time. I had a 492 and 499 before. My concern other than the low score, is the 122 in CARS on my latest exam. Would I still have a shot at DO school? I have a 3.7 GPA, decent ECs, and decent letters.

Is English your first language? 122 is the bottom 25% which is pretty rough but understandable if English is your second language

@mc29012 My SO got in with the same GPA, a 498 MCAT with a 122 in CARS (124/122/127/125). She applied to 11 DO schools, got 7 interview invites, attended 5 of them, was accepted to 4 of them. If you do well in interviews you will most likely get in somewhere. Best of luck with the cycle!

Yes, apply broadly to DO schools. Skip the Touros, AZCOM and CCOM

It happens, I was just trying to get a better understanding of your situation. Like the other poster said, lots of people get in with low subscores, especially if you are a good interviewer. Best of Luck!

Apply broadly... figure out why after 3 attempts you couldn't break 500

i also got a 122 in CARS and am trying to narrow down DO schools.
could you PM me so i can get more info on where your SO applied?

I went 494 and then 498 for my MCAT’s. Had a 3.85 cGPA, 3.8 sGPA, good research and EC’s and received 6 DO interview invites. Your score is fine for DO, just apply broad and early in the cycle and you should get some love from a school. PM me if you have any questions!

Hey thank you for your reply! I actually got accepted to 2 new schools and waitlisted at 2 established schools. What year are you and how are handling the intensity of med school? Have you taken comlex or step yet?

Congratulations on your acceptances! Starting my second year in the fall, haven't taken COMLEX or Step yet. I'd say overall I'm handling it pretty well. It might take a bit but you'll adapt to the pace that info is being presented/tested. Hone your time management and self-discipline skills now and you should be fine!

Thank you so much and congrats to you for making it this far. Really appreciate the advice!!

Would you mind sharing me the school lists? And, I'm a CA resident. sGPA: 3.45 cGPA:3.7 MCAT: Taking on July 18 (but scoring 500-505 range on practice exams). Good LORs and EC's.
