Hello guys,

What do you think it does to a 3.4 cGPA and 3.4 sGPA application that has a 4.0 in all prerequisites except the first semester of Physics? Is it enough to prove to adcoms that you can handle med school or will they give more weight to the total sGPA? The sGPA and cGPA is low due to lots of coursework with bad grades over many years before I got serious within the last couple years. Then straight A's since 2020 and straight A's in all prerequisites. I know a strong upward trend counts for a lot, but it doesn't really show up that strong on the graphs. I have so many courses that each grade level especially my senior year still includes a LOT of coursework from before when my grades were awful. How much weight will be given to a 4.0 in all recent prerequisites? Thanks! Just trying to figure out if I'm dead in the water with my stats.

Hey, just wanted to give you some assurance. I landed 5 IIs (3 MD and 2 DO) this cycle with a GPA very similar to yours (low 3.0s) and an average MCAT score. So all hope is not lost. Just work really hard on the rest of your app and your efforts will pay off. Wishing you the best of luck

You definitely aren't dead in the water. It's impossible for anyone to give you a % chance you have of getting in, and it will depend so much on your EC's, writing skills, and interview skills. That being said, with a cGPA and sGPA almost identical to yours, I received 4 MD interviews this cycle

On AMCAS your cPA and sGPA is broken up by year with your postbac work all on one line. With that it should be more apparent that the student you are now is different than the one you were before.

Rising GPA Trends are always good. You have successfully shown that the you of now is not the you of then

That’s great to hear Goro, thank you for dropping by to encourage!

My gpas/post-bacc were very similar to yours. I think that you should be ok should as grades wise.
