I have seen differing opinions on this, so I'd love some hard information!

I took Chem 1 and Physics 1 at a university where the lecture and labs are combined for 4 credit hours each. I then took the courses over somewhere else, that counted for 3 hour lectures and 1 hour labs. I read that if you go from 3/1 -----> 4 then AACOMAS will accept the retake, but not the other way around. I also read that someone talked to a representative who stated that if you separated the 4 hour credit grades into 3 hour lecture and 1 hour lab, that they would then accept the retake. Any idea on if that works? I REALLY don't want to have to retake these classes again in the summer at a community college...

Thanks!

If you are re-taking where the lecture and lab are separate and the original was a combined lecture and lab, you need to get the same grade in the lecture and lab (separate) re-take in order to replace the original grade. There is no way for aacomas to combine a separate lecture & lab of different grades to replace a course that is lecture & lab combined.

That makes absolutely no sense. Ugh. Guess I'm retaking them AGAIN at a community college this summer, since they count the classes together as a 4-credit class. So, that leads me to my next question; if I take these classes at a CC, how do I count the first set of retakes? I guess they don't go in as "retakes" when I enter classes, just the ones at the CC? Also, I'm assuming that I can submit early, say apply to one school, and then just send in an update when my grades come in? If I submitted early in June, with all my other transcripts, and I finish CC classes in July (which is also when I get my June MCAT scores back), will I get bumped to the back of the line when I submit my grade updates?

AACOMAS will allow you to break the 4 unit combined class into 3+1. I did this.

How did you enter the coursework on your application, if you don't mind my asking? Good to hear it worked for at least one person...

I broke the course up into 3+1 lecture and lab and the r whatever it was 3+1 lecture and lab.
