anyone know 4-year dual degree programs offered by schools. I know of one md/mba, but i'm curious if there are anymore that are 4-year. I understand some require you to start the summer before school starts and require you to take classes during the summer after 1st year, but I'm curious.

thank you in advance

Those are rough and consume all of your breaks and some cut down on elective rotations. Even some 5 year programs do that. I think 5 would be the minimum I would want to do dual degree in.

Sorry in my defense it's late! Don't you have to apply separately going through normal grad school procedures after your admitted to Med school? Which ones are you looking at? Since you have the year off why not try to start preparing for your MBA? You could even start classes and general requirements business internships always help, it would be a much better use of your time then attending a medical school that you don't plan on graduating from.

On a side note: I heard medical schools doubt the validity of your drive to pursue a medical education, and practice as a clinician if they know of your expressed interest to pursue an MBA.

He is talking about MD/MPH, MD/MBA, MD/PHD type programs. Not BS/MD.

yeah, i mean md/mba, md/mph (i don't think md/phd can be done in 4 years), and maybe some other that i haven't thought of. not bs(ba)/md.

I think you can get an MPH during third year at Duke.

tulane has a 4 year md/mph... they strongly suggest starting taking summer classes before fall. its only 30 credits - 10 classes for the mph and a project.

u r right about duke, previous poster.

Does applying to a joint program make your application stronger, or is there simply more competition for these spots? I was wondering this because I read that OHSU gives consideration to "exceptional out of state applicants, as well as candidates for the MD/MPH program", does this mean they consider "non-exceptional" candidates for such a program? I feel like thats what was implied. It seemed surprising, so I had to ask.

Anyway, I would like to apply for joint programs, but I don't know if it will just make it even harder for me to at least get into an MD program, which is my main goal.
