Happy New Year everyone!

I am going to be scheduling 4th year rotations soon, and had a question about the medicine and surgery sub-I's... Is it better to schedule those earlier in the year so that those grades are available during applications and interviews? Or is it better to schedule them in the spring semester of 4th year, so you don't have to worry about those grades? What looks better?

Thanks!

Totally depends on what you are going into. If you are going into medicine or Gen surg then they will want those grades for your application otherwise it is alright to put them off. But don't slack, I know a couple people at my school who tried to put it off until the end and slacked on the rotation because they already matched and ended up failing. Some did not graduate on time because of it.

I agree w/ the above; the field of interest specific rotations should come first (these grades are a must); all the rest is up to you. Some people liked taking the med/gen surg sub-Is early on to more or less chill for the rest of the year, but if you aren't going into these fields it is not urgent.
