I was wondering if the 5 year limit for taking the pre-reqs stills stand? My expiration date of 5 years for physics is expiring for this upcoming cycle. Thanks

also, i think it depends on schools. i was worried about the same thing and i called the schools im intrested in and some schools told me ....yea if the courses are over 10 years old theyre considerd "expired".
so imo, u should call schools bc i think it varies.

I have witnessed some 7 yr limits but this is very school specific. I've even heard (through a predent at my school who interviewed at a school) that there are exceptions that can be made. You should contact the school you're interested in because some dont have any limits. Largely, it seems like they "suggest" prereqs be completed within five years.

When I applied to d-school, sa couple of my pre-reqs were 14 years old. I applied to 8 schools. None of the schools considered my application incomplete because I hadn't taken the pre-reqs within a certain timeframe. Now, I may have been fortunate enough to apply to the right schools, but I highly doubt it. I am sure there are some schools out there that require the pre-reqs within a certain time frame, but don't just assume that most schools have this requirement. I would check the schools you desire to apply to and see what they say. I know I didn't have to take a single pre-req and all were 11-14 yrs old.

I know some medical schools have this 5-year pre reqs...

Fortunately for us, most dental schools DON'T have such requirement.... My Physics 1 and 2 were taking 9-10 years ago. No one even brought it up.

However, there is an expiration date on the DAT (usually 24-36 months).

I thought there were some dental schools with a 5 year limit...not sure though...I would call the schools you are interested in just to make sure...I bet you would be okay with your physics class for most schools...

I'm going to look into this today. If I find any schools that have a strict limit (not just a recommendation but an actual LIMIT on the age of the pre-reqs), then I'll post them in this thread.

most schools have a limit but don't enforce it, at least not strictly. nobody's gonna care about your physics being 5 years old. you can call and ask if you're worried.

Yep, I agree with the above posters. I have some pre-reqs that are pushing 10 years old. Not a single school questioned that during my interviews, and I received one acceptance on Dec 1 and two waitlists. So, most are not terribly strict with a "5-year rule."
