Just wondering if anyone had any advice or input. My overall score was 511 which I'm very happy with, except for this 124 in CARS, I've already sent my application to TMDSAS and forwarded the scores ...not sure what to do or if I should even retake. I don't think I can replace the 97th percentile in BB..

Also, should note this is my second time taking the MCAT, I previously took one in 2013 and got a 27 (61%)

PS (9, 67%) / VR 8 (52%) / BS (10, 76%).

Comparatively, this time, the 511 (86%) breakdown:
I got CP (128, 87%) CARS (124, 49%) BB (130, 97%) and PS (129, 92%)...

ECs:

Co-investigator for peds quality improvement research
1200 medical scribe hours
200 hours as an interviewer for CDC
200 hours cohort enrollment for a YBMSM HIV study
250 hours Community volunteering with student organization/also served as a officer
Recent MPH grad (4.0)
200 shadowing hours

No doubt in my mind I want to be a physician, I've really tried to address my shortcomings since my last attempt in 2013.

GPA (undergrad + grad)

In Texas (TMDSAS)*
SGPA 3.34
CGPA: 3.44

Rest of US (AMCAS)
SGPA 3.44
CGPA 3.54

*I do have Texas residency

Anyone have insight into which schools I should apply to outside of Texas?

You could receive interviews at some of your Texas schools but your GPA is a bit low. However, your good MCAT score may attract some attention. For OOS you could try Quinnipiac, NYMC, Oakland Beaumont,Western Michigan and Tulane. You should strongly consider applying to at least 8 DO schools and you are competitive for any DO school. You may need a DO LOR for some schools.

Thanks for the advice! Something else I found out yesterday...I decided to walk into the admissions office of one of the med schools I work by and just asked them the same question. Interestingly enough they told me that they focus on the overall MCAT score in making interview selections, but that I should have some answer prepared if I do get asked about the low section score. Not sure if this holds true for the rest of the Texas schools or in the US, but it was reassuring and I thought it would be good to pass this info along!
