took the DAT today. I did well so i will try to give some advice and tell you what i used....
Bio 24 (98.7%)
GC 21 (87.4)
OC 26 (98.1)
PAT 20 (85.4)
RC 28 (99.8)
QR 19 (84.9)
TS 23 (98.2)
AA 24 (99.4)
Bio: i used Cliffs AP Bio, Kaplan, Topscore. Section was straight forward, maybe a few random questions but being a bio major helped. A lot of development questions in my opinion, but only one plant question. However, i strongly recommend Cliffs.
GC: i used Kaplan and Topscore. a little disappointed in this score but i'll take it. I would say it was 50-50 concept and calculations. Had some very tricky questions, some that i never even thought to prepare for. section focused heavily on gas questions.
OC: Kaplan and Topscore. Just know your basics. i was worried about this section going in, but it was very simple. they dont try to trick you, just know your main reactions and properties. Lucked out by not getting any amino acid, carbohydrate, lipid structures.
PAT: Crack DAT PAT. I was disappointed in this score as well as i usually scored around 22 on CDP. Keyholes and Angles were very tough, but if you do CDP, you should be all set (i did 10 tests).
RC: didn't really study for. Just searched and destroyed. Only had maybe one tone question, thought i did worse than my score turned out to be.
QR: Kaplan/ didn't really prepare for this section. obviously my score shows that i didn't put much time into this section. i am naturally good at math and was disappointed with this score. had very easy questions but also some really tough ones too. time was biggest issue, probably made educated guesses on 7 or 8 questions.
I took 3 Kaplan and 3 Topscore full length tests prior to my actual DAT. I usually scored around a 19 AA, so i was pleased to see my real scores go up. I recommend Topscore, it is a good representation, although it had a few too many non-human questions (test 3). Kaplan did a really good job with both chemistries, so obv i recommend it.
