Last year was Judgement Day. Not that judgement day from few weeks ago.
http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=741545
Sure it was inevitable. Instead of running away, it just means you have to seize control of the moment.
I think you can figure out what is one of my favorite movie series.
PAT: 21 83.1%
QR: 19 83.5%
RC: 23 90.4%
Bio: 21 91.8%
GC: 21 83.6%
OC: 23 93.4%
TS: 21 90.3%
AA: 21 91.3%
I think I have in some small way redeemed the family name. 🙂 Refer to this post for the joke. http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?p=11060832#post11060832
PAT
Just like CDP. I did all ten twice. But felt that by 2nd time I knew everything but angles. So 1st time through I averaged 20.6. right in line with 21.
the "crazy" folds if you will for hole punching cdp sometimes gives really helped. I did have 1 hole punching where I was like uhhh which hole are they punching. as it didn't line up with anything or the previous picture.
Angles were my killer in CDP and likely the case on the exam too.
QR
I was happy with 17 last year. I was super excited for 19. I am not your typical asian in math. well I once was but lost interest since I got screwed freshman year of HS by the system. 15 years later I still won't forget it.(yes I'm old or older than the average applicant age)
I mainly used math destroyer and CDM. CDM average was 19.7 so pretty close. I also had my brother tutor me. he had a 30 on QR when he took it, during the late 90s. I don't know how he still knows his math. sometimes he's helpful sometimes he's not, I'd get a blank stare, head shake of disappoint me as to why I don't know how to do it.
The calculator is no better this year than last. do not let the calculator during tutorial fool you. I only needed it once as I wanted to double check. seemed too obvious of a choice.
I felt I could've done better if I rushed through rather than doing things at constant pace. I went in with attitude of maximizing correct answer by getting all the easier ones or ones I could break down right away 1st then coming back to ones I have to think. Probably got tripped up on one that hurt me in which I needed maybe 30 more seconds to be sure on the last problem rather than guess.
It might've costed me a 20 for QR which would've brought my AA to 22.
Reading Comp
Nothing too hard. I knew I can read. Crack dat reading all the way. I avged 23 on it. I had some search and destroy but more tone stuff. No piano or anything like that. I did get 1 science question essentially so that saved me a few seconds.
You read and answer i'm not sure what else to say about it.
Bio
I used DAT qvault, destroyer, cliffs ap, barrons ap, campbells, kbb, anything bio I can get my hands on.
As you can tell this was my worry area. I got straight up random stuff last year. stuff that was buried in a figure in campbells. This year they all seemed too easy. Maybe it was my obsessing over it. I kept waiting for them to throw me for a loop. I kept waiting and waiting. I did get one eventually though.
I think this section for me was having faith in myself that I knew the answer. I refused to changed answers. even with time to spare. Changing answers screwed me so bad during one of my immunology tests. I went from A on the exam to D. everyone question I got wrong were the ones that I changed. So I swear to just go with my gut.
Gchem
I used DAT destroyer and Old freebie chad videos though. I don't know if these were the same ones on his website now or not that are labeled "old". I grabbed the videos last year or late 2 years ago when they were posted here. Its not HD or anything but its works.
Nothing too hard, zero calculations unlike last year. I had give us the setup problem and more concepts stuff than last year. I did get lab stuff this year.
I'm disappointed I couldn't match my Chem score from last year. 22 in gchem would've brought my AA up to 22. I did have one dispute with a question where it asked me explain the difference but compared two of the same things.I won't tell the question buts like saying alaska is colder than alaska for one choice then another its alaska is warmer than alaska. none of the other choices made any sense.
Ochem
Chad and Destoryer, my ochem teacher, my own flash cards or reactions.
Listen to the Chad and do destroyer and you'll do fine. Stereochemistry was my issue going in. I know its funny with us having a PAT.
my ochem teacher will be very happy. I bugged her the last month or so asking stupid questions since I was afraid of getting thrown some trick questions or something that was easy but could be twisted around.
Miscellaneous stuff
Here's some things I did that may have helped me.
I pretty much took Thursday off. I reviewed very lightly ecology stuff since it was like only a few pages in cliffs. But then I just played video games and cleaned up my place since I have books/paper everywhere.
I prayed. I'm not religious either. My mom will attest to that. I annoy her every chance I get when she brings up religion. I didn't ask for a high score but a test in which i won't get flustered. It came true. I think I will ask now not to win mega millions jackpot but instead just the small 5/5 prize instead. 😛
Its baseball season(even though my Athletics are stinking it up right now) so here come the superstitious stuff)
- I shaved the night before even though I didn't have absolutely have to as I shaved that morning. I shaved again this morning. Ladies might be at a lost on this. But you can shave other stuff. 😛
- I refused to cut my hair for the last 2 months, thought I was trimming away my knowledge.
- I brushed my teeth and floss right before I left the house too.
the boards as still as crappy as last year. I got an eraser that's office max branded that was shaped like a mouse, at times I kept grabbing it instead of the actual mouse and going WTF my mouse doesn't work.
Think positive. I kept going in the last few days, how I'm gonna be so excited to show cousins, friends and my ochem teacher my score. (She thinks of me like her child, even though she's the same age as my oldest cousin.) I kept going, you're getting 24s too during the 15 minute tutorial and break and on the way there.
Oh last song I listened to before going into the center was
"Don't Rush" By susie benzon http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XiSHxJGiuzA
Lyrics really worked for me. it starts
"Take your time, Take your time, Take your time, Take your time, don't rush, don't rush."
I can go relax now. My vacation will be that much better.
sorry for the length, I tried to breakdown as much as I can.
