  1. Pharmacy Student
Are your classified as an undergrad or graduate studentduring your first 4 years?

Why do some schools change your status to Professional student durng your junior year?

How does this affect your financial aid if you become classified as a profesional student?

What is the real purpose of this?

You are undergrad during the first 4 years.

You are a professional student starting year 3 because only then are you technically in "pharmacy school", meaning that you take your pharmacy classes, not prereqs for pharmacy classes. It also makes a good excuse for schools to charge you more money (professional differential).

Your financial aid is the financial aid of an undergrad. You get grad financial aid either 5th or 6th year (depending on the school, I think).

are you sure about that? i'm going into my first professional year (3rd) and my student loans aren't undergrad.

Butler is a 6 year school and I'm a transfer student going into my 1st professional year - I'm considered an undergrad. And I already have an undergrad degree and am under 24 so basically financial aid is nil.

my student loans are grad loans, I am a junior starting pharmacy school P1, not undergrad.

are there other advantages being considered a grad student?

I didn't know your school had a 6 year program...are you getting loans at the graduate level?😕

seeing as i've already done all the paperwork, yes.

I was wondering the same thing for awhile. I'm at a 6 year program and I'm still undergrad and getting undergrad tuition up until the 5th year as I was told by an older student. But my dilemma is I think I'm going to have to get a Florida driver's license come my 5th year because I get in state tuiton because my dad lives in Florida and he claims me. But once I'm a not considered undergrad anymore I will be independent and my residency will be based off me so if I still want instate tution I'll have to become a resident myself. Which sucks because I don't want to get all my tags and license switched over but I dont think I'll have a choice or pay out of state tuition.
