Hi guys, I am new to the SDN and wish I knew about this amazing community....well around 4 months ago. I would like to share some things about myself so you can get to know my personality a little better before I give a full breakdown, ask a bunch of questions and give some really good advice.:
-I am a resident of Florida.
-I am 23 years of age
-Graduated in May of 2015
-I Foster Cats and Dogs and help them get adopted
-I shadowed a public health dentist and felt that I was needed in that field.
This DAT thing was no joke and I was not prepared for the hurricane that picked up wind fast. I like to learn at my own pace so I decided to buy all my materials from a friend who had just got a 22 on his DAT.
Materials I bought.....AND below is things I would change/might change.
-Kaplan Blue book which I mainly used for Biology and PAT practice tests.
CHADs videos- I borrowed this idea and it turned out to be great for Gchem Ochem and math.
AP cliff notes Biology book- I read it very thoroughly along with watching Chads.
DAT DESTROYER- After about 4 weeks of reviewing I hopped aboard the Titanic and almost went down with the boat. I went through all the questions one full time and then looked over most of my circled ones again. The road maps are delicious for ORGO.
Math DESTROYER- BRUTAL! I just got really confused and stopped using it after Test 12.
BOOTCAMP- I honestly wish I used this more. I only did the first 2 tests for each section including the PAT.
Crack the PAT-I only did 3 of the tests... They were useful
TOPSCORE-I only did the first 2 tests and found them very useful.
READING-I didn't really practice much reading except 1 BOOTCAMP test.
If I were to study again, I would do more bootcamp, and do way more Math Destroyer and DAT destroyer.
I have gotten 4 interviews to schools that are ok. I have not gotten an Interview to the University of Florida which is my main concern. I really have been shooting to go here since I was a young lad. I was wondering if you guys think it is too late to start studying again and take the DAT before this session of admissions is over. That means I would take it around November 30th. I have not told Dental schools I plan on re taking it yet. I really thought a 19 was good enough, but turns out it really is not at all.
Word to the Wise, if you feel like your score is not good enough, just start studying again right as you walk out of your test and take it again 3 months later LIKE I SHOULD HAVE and I would be set right now.
