Finally!

I e-submitted 7/1 and saw 7/18 mailing date this morning. All my stuffs are in during June. I took a longer time on finishing up personal statement.

Hope to hear some good news this year. With a 22AA and 3.80 BCP, I did not get any interview last year.

This year I did 500+ hours shadowing and dental assistant position and hope some schools will consider it!

I actually applied earlier last year. (like around...mid June, so was mailed out in the first or second batch) Can't figure out why I didn't even get an interview... I thought I was above average at least... sigh

I only applied to 9 OOS schools since I am TX resident and was hoping to stay with one of the 3 TX schools. However, I didn't get any interview from TX dental schools and it was too late when I want to add more schools to AADSAS application.

I got UCSF UCLA and UW's secondaries last year. UW's actually arrived at the end of November and one of my WA resident friend who submitted a month later than me had already interviewed by the time my secondaries arrived. NYU and BU didn't send any news after I completed their application and... um... I forgot what other schools I have applied.

Anyway, so this year, the biggest improvement other than more dental working hours is applying to more schools and hope for some interviews.

Did you ask schools why they rejected you with such strong stats?

No. The problem is I didn't even get an interview. I would have asked if I made to interviews, but they can say anything for not picking a candidate to interviews. It's not like they have a checklist.

I think this is the 4th batch this year and depends on the deadline of schools, this date for most schools is still pretty early. (still have secondaries and payments to be mailed)

I esubmitted on 6/27 and just saw the mailing date come up. I am definitely stoked it is finally going out, but it makes me nervous that you had such solid stats and didnt get an interview!

(I'm assuming you're Asian) My guess is that TX schools (and OOS schools) have a plethora of Asians with your stats or higher, so it might have come down to whose personal statement was better, whose secondaries were better, whose application had more grammatical errors, etc. This is pure speculation, but I really think Asians compete with other Asians for the unofficial Asian quota spots. I know this is just a forum, so typos run rampant, but if you had grammatical errors left, right, and center, it could have definitely played a role.

It's a good thing you spent more time on your personal statement this time around. Good luck.

This worries me! English is not my second language though I am Asian and I got a 17 in RC (this is because I was sick during my test day and I was late because I was stuck in a snowstorm.... Tough luck, huh? Ended up with a 23 AA and 25 TS, though). I applied to 8 schools. I know I'm getting rejected from one already because I'm not doing their secondary. So... 7 to go. Maybe you didn't really have enough extracurriculars???? Maybe it was the personal statement. Who knows. MIND-BOGGLING

I think we are still early. My 7/18 mailing date was verified as well.. I esubmit the June 2nd . Were all mid summer applicants (very early).. the only difference is a few batches. This is the 4th batch and Im still excited. Unfortunately my stats are no where near as stellar as everyone elses (3.3 GPA, 19 AA, 16 PAT [the 1 score I bombed 🙁]), but I applied to 16 schools. Staying optimistic; goodluck everybody.

Oh and I think we can conclude that "batches" of applications going out on monday are generated at midnight the previous wednesday. If you haven't been generated yet chances are slim that you will see the next mailing date.

I don't remember if we have to put our race on the application, but anyway, I think you are correct on the unofficial Asian quota spots. I can see from stats that CA schools accepted more Asian then TX schools (percent-wise).

I am not even sure how they select who to interview since I have a friend who applied twice for medical schools in TX with the "exact same personal statement" and got no interview the first time, but two interviews the second time. And if I remember correctly, her MCAT went down when she took it the second time.

AADSAS sent out an email on 7/11 saying my GPA was verified, but you shouldn't worry too much since most of my course works were verified last year and I have only three to four new courses for them to verify this time. It might take longer for a new applicant.

I sent out some, but so far only USC cashed it. Sending secondaries with checks works just like delivery confirmation I guess 😛

I know people who got into Tufts with a 3.2 oGPA and 20 AA. Asian, English as a second language. RICH parents (that, of course doesn't matter)
Undergraduate class of 2010. Was working on a MS when applying last year. (well...maybe I should have applied to Tufts...)

Yeah!! I was not alone. I had bcp 3.65 aa20 ts 21 but didn't get in anywhere.
Gerrr.. English is my second language. I also spent more time on the PS this year and retook the DAT. We know we are better-prepared this year. Good Luck guys😀

Wow..I guess I was very lucky last year..you guys had so much better stats than me..
I had 19AA/19TS/22PAT and 3.55 cGPA, 3.35 sGPA last year, English is also my second language and I'm an international but I got two interviews, one waitlist..still didn't get rejection letter so I assume I'm on their alternate list but I do not expect to hear from them at this point. lol

Well lets hope this is still early for those of us with less than perfect stats! So now it officially becomes a waiting game now that everything is complete. Time for some rise of nations and some grand turismo!😀

Crap, stories like this really get me worried(people with high stats, applied early and didn't get in). My stats are not nearly as good as yours. Are you guys international status? or did you guys have like no EC's at all?
