I figured I should post one of these since in the past few weeks I've found other people's breakdowns helpful. I feel like for the areas I studied the most, I did worse than expected, and for the areas I did not study/practiced very little, did much better than expected.
PAT (KBB, pre dds website, ADA 2007/2009)
I feel like I didn't practice this very much. Angle ranking was very hard; if I had practiced from more difficult materials I feel I would have done better. Kaplan's PAT is way too easy.
QR (KBB, pre dds, 2007/2009, 1 free datdvault)
I didn't practice QR very much either. I've always been strong at math so I figured I'd wing it mostly. Turns out this was my highest percentile at 96.4. I ran out of time on this section, though.
RC (free datqvault)
I honestly thought this would be my lowest score, and was surprised. I only ever did one practice test for reading. Luckily, I got a lot of "search and destroy" questions. I had a cool ethics passage too.
Bio (KBB, Chad's videos/quizzes, Anki flashcards, pre dds notes, Bangity's notes, Alan's notes, free qvault, 2007/2009)
This section was so completely random. Since I'm a biology TA I found this section very upsetting. If I had gotten a 20 I think I might have gotten a 21 aa. 🙁 Chad's bio questions are pretty good. I had one question that was from one of the ADA's released tests. Anki's flashcards are good for on the go studying. I used these as I commuted around to and from campus. I downloaded Bangity's decks as well as a few random DAT ones that were public.
GChem (KBB, pre dds notes, free qvault, Chad's videos/quizzes, 2007/2009)
I made some stupid mistakes here. For one question that I had marked, I ran out of time before I could select what I was sure would have been the right answer. Chad's videos were extremely helpful for both genchem and ochem. KBB was alright, I read through their chapter as a review from Chad. Gen chem was the first area I started studying for and this week I feel like I was starting to forget basic things.
Ochem (KBB, pre dds, Chad's videos/quizzes, free qvault, 2007/2009)
Pretty straight forward. Once again, Chad is absolutely amazing! I had two or three NMR questions.
As you can see, I did not use TopScore or Destroyer. If I had, I feel like my scores would have been much higher because of all the practice they offer. I started studying at the end of May and watched all of Chad's videos in a week. During the beginning of June, I went on a two week vacation and when I returned, I re-watched Chad's videos on certain topics. For 6 of the 8 weeks that I did study, I studied about 4 hours a day because I TA for two different classes, work in a research lab, and was shadowing. I didn't start doing practice tests until last weekend and even then, only utilized free resources. Word of advice- do more practice tests than I did and you will be golden!
I'm a bit afraid I should have moved my test to a later date. What do you guys think? I have strong recs, 3.76 overall, great leadership experience, and great research experience. Since I'm a biology major I'm especially afraid my bio score will look really bad.
