I would think you would have a chance there. How many people from Puerto Rico actually apply to UPR? If someone got in with 14 across the board on the DAT, I would imagine you have a very good chance. They admit people who are going to stay on the island and practice.

well, I don't know how many people apply there! I think is like 3,000.... They admit 42, 2 of them are International students and the rest is just lucky because many many many times the University admit students that doesn't deserve to get into....EXAMPLE: if they have a relationship with the student fathers, then they help to those students to get in even if that student have a poor GPA (UPR looks more the GPA than the DAT) and that is the problem with UPR Dental School! even Medicine School and Pharm School. For that reason is that I'm asking what are the chances of a Puerto Rican in Meharry and Howard to be accepted.

thanks

They would take in more of the minorities, but selection criteria will primarily be based on your strong stats and credentials.

Be careful of using the word "strong" when referring to Meharry and Howard. 👍

Puerto Rico, I got accepted to the UPR School of Pharmacy and I don't know anyone in there or have family with contacts. I don't know about the dental and medicine programs though.

Puerto Rico please let me know the GPA that your cousin had and how many communtiy service hours. I went my first to rio piedras before deciding to transfer to the U.S.

As a Puerto Rican applying the Meharry or Howard, I think you have a good chance of getting in....Especially if you have plans to work for the underserved. Those schools have lower DAT and GPA avareges because they specifically look at people, not necessarily for those creditials but their likelihood to go back and practice in underserved communities. I had an interview at Meharry and I seen quite a few hispanic people attending the school. If you can pull solid GPA and DAT, you could potentially go anywhere.
