hey guys I just finished taking the DATs today and I am really confused on where my scores stand and I'm not sure if I need to take them again...
please give me some advice please!

PAT 21

QR 15 (I'm really worried about this one...is there a base score that you have to get for schools?)

RC 20

BIO 19

G CHEM 20

O CHEM 21

total science 20

Academ Average 19

I'm not applying next year, and I'm going to be a 3rd year

current science GPA 3.56
Overall GPA 3.63

also is there a time limit before you can take the DATS again ( i heard 3 months) ???

everything looks pretty good except the QR...some schools have cutoff scores that you have to meet which might be a concern for you

p.s. I think I'd be pissed if i had to retake the DAT just b/c of one section 😛

I have a 15 QR too. Don't let it get to you. Sure, some schools may reject you for it but most likely the majority of them will over look it and see how you are on an interview.

do you know how i can find out what the cut off scores for each school are? sorry I'm so clueless ...

there is a post around here somewhere. Off the top of my head I know NYU is 18+ and Buffalo/Stony Brook is 14+

So this means I have no chance at NYU because of my 15 in QR?? I don't think that's the case..I know people who got interviews with scores below 18.

Call them and ask. Most schools are willing to share that kind of info with you.

I just looked into the link glkdds posted and yes it is true NYU is at least an 18....thats so sad...maybe i'll call them and ask...but theres so much competition these days that 15 is really not safe...

Look at this link:
http://www.adea.org/DAS/student-applicant/default.htm

It is under the "Deciding where to apply" link.

You should be fine though... they'll just chalk it up you having an "off day" with your math.

Good luck.

Thanks! It's what I thought..notice how for some schools they say "minimum of xx in each section"..but I think with NYU they want you to have an AA and TS of 18 or higher which makes sense. Plenty of people get 20's in Bio,GC,Org,RC but get around 16-17 in PAT and perhaps the same or worse in QR as we see this year.

OKAY so the more i think about this the more i realize that I need to retake the DATS ...UGH I'm from california so I really want to go to either UCLA or UCSF (because ITS so much cheaper and I dont want to put too much burden on my parents...) what do you guys think...those scores are def not gonna cut it for SF or LA huh?

I dont know much about the cali schools but your scores are very solid! If you retake you will have a hard time beating them..its very easy to slip up on just a few questions and then you'll wind up with very similar scores..definitely not worth the retake. You cracked 20's in the sciences..goodwork
