When a syringe filled with brown NO2 (g) was immersed in ice water, the gas turned colorless. If NO2(g) were suspected to be dimerizing, which of the following steps would increase the yield of the discolored gas?

A. Increase the pressure of the syringe
B. Decrease the pressure of the syringe
C. Immerse the syringe in warm water
D. Add a catalyst to the syringe content
E. Insulate the entire experimental setup

I thought the answer was to decrease the pressure, but its actually A, increase the pressure. Can anyone help me understand this? Thanks!

I think... since the system is solution (NO2 was immersed in WATER), its concentration increases as the pressure increases. Therefore the equilibrium will shift to the right.
