I've decided a 1-year Master's Program in Chemical Engineering or possibly Chemistry (preferably Industrial Chemistry), would be the way I would want to spend a year if I have to apply a second-time.

I know it's a bit off topic, but anyone know of such a program?

Purely academic is fine. It's an option I'm looking at and if I go that route, it's a background in industrial/applications chemistry that I'm interested in...

You can get an engineering masters degree in a year, but I think you'd be hard-pressed to get a chemistry MS in a year. I say this only because all of the programs I've looked at require lab time and research, even the non-thesis programs.

If you're interested in getting out of Texas, I know of a 1-year MS in Mechanical engineering program. It offers both research experience and a short timeline.

Why spend the money and time getting the degree? I have degrees in chemistry and chemical engineering, and neither have helped me in my med school classes.

Seems like a decent way to spend a year between applications. Wanting to pursue MS ChemE is mostly a mix of personal interest and relevance to future goals both in medicine and in the event that medicine doesn't work out.

Ideally I'll get into at least a med school my first time applying, but if I have to try again than a 1 year MS in ChemE or a 2 year research MS in BioE would be my most likely options. I'm only asking about the 1 year MS, because those are harder to find...
