1. How competitive is it in terms of board scores, say to EM or psych?

2. Are MD programs DO friendly

3. How competitive are pain fellowships?

4. The average salary of a psyatrist without fellowship is around $250k or so?

Board scores are below the matching/Internal Medicine average. Probably comparable to Psychiatry. Though I would rate PM&R as more competitive than Psychiatry.

2. Are MD programs DO friendly

Yes, generally.

3. How competitive are pain fellowships?

My impression is that if you just want to do *a* fellowship, which includes unaccredited ones, then you can probably get one. I know people who are well below average residents who have gotten such fellowships.

4. The average salary of a psyatrist without fellowship is around $250k or so?

Yeah, dunno about that. I think you would be better off assuming $200K as a mid-career salary, and more like $140K to start. $250K as an *average* figure is too optimistic, IMO.
