Folks,

I am hoping to apply in Summer 2011 and start in the class of Fall 2012. I would appreciate any answers regarding the following:

1) When does ADEA release the new guide to dental schools? Should I just get the one from last year, or wait until they release the new version? Anyone know when this comes out?

2) I, like an idiot, have not taken biochemistry (I have already graduated). Could I apply to dental schools during Summer 2011 and sign up for a Biochem class during Fall 2011 or Spring 2012 to satisfy the requirement?

3) I would appreciate any random advice you folks have on getting my application in as fast as possible come June 1st. Was there anything you wish you had known that could speed up the process? I am out of the country until April 2, but will use April-June 1 making sure I am as prepared as can be to get my application ASAP. I would love to hear tips!

Not sure about #1, but for #2 yes you can take your biochem during Fall 2011 or Spring 2012 after you submit your application June 2011... just make sure to put biochem in as a planned course on AADSAS.

For #3... write your personal statement before AADSAS opens in June, that way you can submit it early. The question is always the same and the length is always the same. I forget off the top of my head but it's a pretty short statement. You can search the forums for the P.S. requirements. Also I found it helpful to have a copy of my transcript in hand which made it a lot easier to input my coursework into my application on the day it became available.

for 1) I bought mine last year In May of 2010 for the 2010-version. So I assume u can do the same for the 2011 version

for 2) yes. Its totally normal for students to apply and while they are waiting for interviews to enroll in whatever courses they need/want.

for 3) The BEST thing you can do to speed up your process is to have ALL of your Letters of recommendations ready and have a DAT score in hand.
