Hi fourm, I just need a little insight on what you guys think I should do in my situation. I am taking the Kaplan course and on my diagnostic exam I got a 15/16, not too bad for starters so then I really sat down and put in 3/4 hours every other day doing reading/practice problems from kaplan and the DAT Destroyer which i have done a lot of questions from thus far...I took my midterm for Kaplan yesterday and got a 14 AA! I only improved in reading 17 and PAT 19, I obviously know now that I am putting in lots of overtime in studying but am I missing something? I am taking the DAT in 3 weeks but I think I may push it back just one more week to make it into a full month of hardcore studying! Do you think I can truly improve? I need some imput, advice and a little MOTIVATION! Thanks

You still have plenty of time, so don't worry. Maybe the problem is how you're studying? Are you just reading the book or are you making notes on everything that you find unfamiliar and the questions and concepts that you're getting wrong. If you're just reading the book, there's no way that's enough. You could read it seven times and still get tons of stuff wrong. You need to write down notes, cross-reference, memorize small details, come up with mnemonics, and then memorize all of your notes before taking a practice test. Once you take the test, you need to go through ALL of the questions and make sure you understand what you got wrong, and also make sure the questions that you got right you got them because you actually know the answer inside and out.

Also, I don't have Destroyer, so I don't know much about it, but everyone on this forum says it is amazing, so that's good. You might also want to buy Crack PAT if that's a section you need to work on, I think it's an amazing resource. Also Topscore or Achiever for full length tests.

Also, you need to do more than 3 or 4 hours every other day. All day every day for the next three or four weeks.

Good luck!

Thanks, I definately started to change my studying habits, I am going over two exams I have taken with Kaplan and writing down lots of notes, im starting today all day and night so well see what happens. I think I agree with you and should invest in more full length practice exams! I just hope that I can seriously pull up my score!!

you need to study way more than 3-4 hours a day....
8-9 hours a day is good and then ull see results :O)
I speak from experience =)
