Hey everyone, I just have to share the good news. I got accepted to UMDNJ-SOM TODAY!!! I received a phone call. I interviewed there on 9-25. This was by far my top choice. Awesome school! Getting into medical school, and especially getting into UMDNJ is truly A DREAM COME TRUE! I have thought about this day for so long, and now that it's here, I don't know what to do. I feel as though the weight of the world has been lifted off of my shoulders! I truly am so blessed! So many loooooooooooong hours of working my butt off and stressing out have paid off! At times I almost gave up, so for all of you out there wanting to give up, DON'T! GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT!!! So, needless to day, I am on CLOUD NINE!!! Anyone else who is UMDNJ Class of 2008 send me a private message so we can chat it up about the school and everything! Good luck to everyone!!! I hope all of you get to have your dreams come true also!

Congratulations!

It's a great feeling when you're accepted into medical school. It took me several days before it hit me. I had nightmares that the school will follow up their acceptance letter with another one saying "Ooops. We're sorry. We overlooked a portion of your application and your acceptance was granted in error. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience."

Enjoy the feeling!

Got a call from UMDNJ this morning. First acceptance, so I am officially going to be a doctor.

I got the call this morning as well. I from CA so the call was at 6:40am. At first I wasn't going to answer because I got off of work at 12am this morning, but I so glad I did! Today is a good day.

would have thought they would know what time zone you are from... but CONGRATS none the less!!

They must have called you immediately after they called me because I got the call as I was walking out the door for class at 9:35.

Hey premedmijo and forensicpath, are u definitely going to UMDNJ or is it not your first choice? I'm just curious to see what other people think of the school

I am an MSI and sometimes I STILL think they are going to find me out and come get me and send me back to my old job! 🙂

Enjoy the rest of your free days...

I don't have a first choice yet. I have more interviews scheduled and want to base my decision on the feel I get for the school when I visit. With that said, I was impressed with the community of the student body at UMDNJ.

Congrats!! Im so excited to here about others who've been accepted as well to UMDNJ. I loved the school and only applied to PCOM and jersey, so I put my deposit down for UMDNJ, denied my PCOM interview and Im done!!
Its the best feeling and Im so happy you you that got accepted as well.
Hope to see you next year!!
🙂

Hey DOTune, I also am from south jersey...where in south jersey if you don't mind me asking? I go to school at The College of New Jersey, but I was born and raised in south jersey. If you don't feel comfortable posting it here, then send me a private message.

heyi'm really glad to hear that your hard days of work has finally paid off. Yep now you are officially a doctor in 4 yrs or so. As my preceptor said it is harder to get kicked out of med school than to get in. Well, i'm a second yr at umdnj too, and reading this post made me feel refreshed despite all this crazy pulmonary module right after cardio. Well, i have to say you made a great choice and you will love it here. But someimes i really wonder, would you feel the same after couple of yrs into med school, you would be probably worrying about something else at that moment. It seems that trouble never stops. When we get on to the next level, there are more things that stress us and present challenge. Enjoy the moment though, when you get there, and after all the elation has disappeared, you will find more things to worry about, like grades, boards... It will never end, until we die i guess. I think some residents and docs might feel me more, they probably go through more crap than i do, i'm sure. Life is what you make out of it and how you try to see it. After all, we are all too human, and we are destined to be depressed. Hopefully our optimism is stonger than the harsh reality. Sorry about this dire post, i just had to let it out, and i just found some relevant source to release upon, well I just got a LP, and that sux as hell. But you know preclinical grades don't matter much right? Well, but not for ortho, optho, ENT, Derm, all the freaking specialty i wanna get into. So everything in life counts i guess no matter how unimportant or silly they might seem. Life is nothing but a breath, so let's live and learn what really matters. I might just be a regular family doc and make 150k, and just live normal. Oops, i spent too much time sriting i just realized, we have 7 tests in next 2 weeks, damn when will this drama ever end? I'm a student like forever. Hoefully it will pay off, as long as my determination prevails.
