So I was procrastinating from studying for Step 2 and ran across this ppt:
http://www.aspet.org/AMSPC/uploads/Newport Beach 08/Melnick- 2008-02, USMLE Today and Tomorrow.ppt
It is a presentation from the president of the NBME on changes to the test. It gives average scores for the USMLE Step I and II on one of the slides. Looks like the answer to the question that was on everyones mind: Step I average score 76.1%. (not actual data, but from one of their internal studies).
So there you go chaps. A 220 ~= 75%.
As for those wondering about changes to Step I and Step II into a single exam, looks like the graduating class of 2013 or 2014 will be the first to do that according to current plans:

(Yeah, I know, I have way to much time on my hands. Insert any wise-cracks you like).
