A few questions..please help!

Hi everyone,

I have a few questions regarding the PTCAS application:

1) I am applying to a few schools that require applicants to write additional essays besides the PTCAS essay, do these additional essays have to be completed before I e-submit my application? (i'm thinking yes)

2) If I e-submit my application by the first week of September, will that be considered too late? Or will I still be okay in the admissions cycle?

Hello! I'm a re-applicant so I know all about this stuff. I went through it all last session.

1) The additional essays do NOT have to be completed at the time of e-submitting. Those additional essays need to be completed when you apply to the school that requires them.

2) I think you just have to e-submit before the deadline of the first school you want to apply to. This may not be 100% correct and maybe someone else can jump in here. But, it's best to have it in as early as possible. And if you want to be considered for any early decision schools, it must be submitted by August 15th.

One thing you could do, if you have a Facebook, is friend PTCAS on there and post questions on their page. They are usually very quick to respond and their responses are very thorough.

Each school has a separate deadline for supplemental questions, and you can usually see that date on their program page on PTCAS.

To answer your second question, I called PTCAS to ask the same thing a few days ago. The employee told me that the applications need to be "processed" (not e submitted) by the due date. He said I should submit the applications "at least" a few weeks ahead of time. Seems like September should be ok though.

I am confused now. I emailed the PT contact person at one of the schools I plan on applying to. She told me that the application on ptcas just needs to be submitted on ptcas before the school deadline and does not need to finish processing before the deadline. Granted, I never did ask ptcas about it. So now I don't know what to think.

It just needs to be submitted. What PTCAS is saying is just their recommendation. Most schools account for the processing period when determining their deadlines.

If a school has additional essays (custom questions) placed within PTCAS, you will NOT be allowed to e-submit without completing these essays/questions.
