Hello All,
I've got a few questions I'd like to ask:
1. I'm considering going back to school to finish a degree and apply to medical school. I had a pretty good GPA (3.56) when I left after 2 years, but that was 4 years ago and I was wondering if pre-med classes expired. The only prereq. I took was physics 1. I read a post by Law2Doc that went:
"...schools tend not to have "explicit" rules about when they expire, but may have concerns with old coursework nonetheless. However, many premed advisors and postbac programs will suggest that if you haven't taken the prereqs in 7+, you should seriously consider retaking them in any event. As Sundarban1 indicated, ALL med schools want to see recent coursework and success in the sciences, so if you don't retake prereqs, you'll want to take some upper level classes, just to allay any fears they have that you remember nothing."
Now, I know that physics 2 isn't considered an "upper level class", but would doing well in that class make up for the time since taking part 1?
2) Will classes you've taken at a technical college (EMT-I) be considered as part of your GPA?
3) A friend of mine is in his first year of pharmacy school and is talking about going to medical school after getting out. The thing is, he didn't get a bachelor's degree before entering pharmacy school, he just finished the required prereq's. So, would his Pharm.D. "cancel out" the fact that he didn't get a B.S.?
Thanks a bunch and have a good one,
A.
