Hey guys,

So just wondering:

1. for the latest Step 2 CK test-takers (the past few weeks), how long has it taken to get your scores back? 3 wks or 4 wks?

2. Is is possible to adjust the computer screen (brightness?)

3. Can you make the font bigger (like in UW)?

4. If you want to do the abstract and drug ad questions last-how do you do that? Should you just assume that each 2-part question is one of these types and only click on those questions after completing the others? (I'm always afraid that if I click on the first question of those 2-part question sets that I won't be allowed to come back to it if I skip it)

Thank you guys so much!

Oh and how do you guys suggest taking breaks? Not sure how long to take in between sections thanks!

This one I'll tackle. You take breaks based on your endurance. YOU CHOOSE. I can hammer through question sets. I always had at least 15 minutes after each block and i skipped the tutorial. But that meant that there was no way that I could do more than two blocks in a row at that pace. I get antsy. So I would AT LEAST take a break every two blocks.

To get over the hump at lunch I literally took an hour break. I left prometric. I went to subway. I called my girlfriend. I stretched in the lobby. Seriously. Everyone else was like "wtf?" but I was all like "Im smarter than you, GED test taker, eat it." I got a 252.

But if you are like a girl in my class, than you will take ALL the time each block, and may need a small decompression after each block. She actually spent time looking up stuff that she didnt know the answer to (foolish) but that was her strategy. It didn't help her at all on future blocks, but it took her anxiety away from "not knowing." She got a 240.

The point of these anecdotes is that its about you, the test taker. There is no one strategy. So, you should be practicing with questions, see how you handle four blocks in a row. Can you handle it? Figure out your own block breaks. The cool thing is that you can take as many as you want, so long as you don't run out of free time!

4. If I remember correctly, the ones with the abstracts & ads had 42 questions per section in comparison to 44. So you already have a little more time per question. So if you wanted to wait on those, you could selectively not answer those strings of questions in the sets with fewer questions.

1. I took my exam october 4th, got my score back 26th, so 4 wednesdays for me since I took it on a tuesday.

3. I am not sure if you could change the font, ( I rushed through my tutorial), however I did Uworld on the larger font size and found that the real exam was very comfortable for my eyes, I wasnt squinting or anything, I think it has to do with the super low resolution the FRED software seems to run at, I am guessing on this because the practice materials look super small on my 1080p monitor.

2. You can adjust the computer screen, like colour and gamma, etc, practice doing this with the practice software because it might not be a good idea to try and learn this on the exam day.

4. most of my drug and abstrat questions were at the end of my blocks, I suggest you do them first if you are a slow reader like me, because most of the time i ran outta time and I was like rushing through them with 30 seconds left, ( not a good idea since the graphs seem super complicated when you are nervous).. u can tell u have these questions in a block by the fact that the block is shorter at 42 questions and they will usually have 2-3 questions linked together.

If I skip the tutorial does that 15 min get added to my break time? I heard it doesnt for step 2 CK so I want to make sure😕

yes it adds the time to your break time, dude just go through the practice FRED software, it should answer most of your questions.

Absolutely agree with drblueevil. I would not save the drug ads for the end. Those things are long reads and take some time.
