I've heard that this is how they are going to try to stop caries. That would be nice if it works, we'll have to see how it works in real life though.

Anyone have a date on the first time they tried something like this? I think they taught us this first year, and it was one of those things I filed away as useless...and I don't want to go back through old notes or get lost in PubMed. Seems like it's been longer than I've been alive, though.

Thanks for the link. This debate/idea has been tossed around for a long time, and there are posts about it all over the Dental forum (a quick search will reveal them).

We've pretty much beaten this topic into the ground, and gotten nowhere while doing it.
