I'm an Egyptian medical school grad (6 year program) this year and I'm a Canadian citizen. I'm planning to go back to Canada and do my 1 year residency and then my specialty (hopefully surgery) can someone please tell me what steps I have to take? exams? score? where can i get my residency done (hospitals or universities)

Thank you

To ur reply, i may help u with some info but i have it as an attachments..so gimme ur email to send it to u 🙂
And i would really appreciate ur help in a certain matter, what are the chances for middle east medical students after taking the mccee and the other two steps to have surgery in canada ?

Hi!
Well, you just need to google it, or go to the website mcc dot ca.
do your research. If you are coming here, you should know already this info.

Basically, take the MCCEE before you arrive (it's better, you save some time).
Once here, take the MCCQE1, and MCCQE2.
With those, you get some chances to get a residency.
If you are thinking in surgery though, it's really hard.
Most of the programs would see as an asset to have the ATLS taken and not expired, for a surgery program.

Every province, and hospital, have specific requirements, the exams above are the initial steps.
You need to be a resident/citizen in order to apply for a spot in Carms.

regards.
