A note to Peds residency applicants. If you have secured an interview date at a particular program and later decide not to interview there, please cancel your interview with that program as early as possible. I have heard that some interview dates at some programs are filling up quickly, creating a "wait list" for particular dates (or for getting an interview at all at that program). So cancelling early will free up that interview slot for someone else, hopefully in time for that applicant to make travel arrangements. And even if you decide to cancel at the last minute, let the programs know that you are not coming. "No shows" for interview dates do not reflect well on you or on your med school. And programs do worry if an applicant doesn't appear for a scheduled interview day- concerns about travel issues, illness, accidents, etc.
