Hey everyone,

Recently I started getting LORS from my professors
and then I asked my dentist. He was more than happy to
write one, but then presented me with a letter of rec.
What I'm confused about is, is there any sort of special
SEAL for this LOR?? I mean, He only has his STAMPED
address of his business, but it doesn't look terribly fancy
or anything (I know, I sound like I'm expecting more but
it's because one of my professors gave me a very nice
LOR with special paper and a neat envelope, it made it
look more official...), but will it suffice? Also, he only gave
me ONE copy of the LOR. I noticed a lot of people on the forum
decided to send in different copies to different school because
they didn't trust the AADSAS... am I supposed to ask for
more than one copy of the LOR or am I allowed to copy the
LOR and just send it with his permission? He only gave me
one LOR because his reasoning was "AADSAS only needs 1",
but I'm kind of anxious to send it out directly to the other schools.

😳 it would be nice to hear useful feedback. Thanks so much!

There are many who don't trust AADSAS. Personally, my experience with them went flawlessly.

I know its great to have the first letter that you send be actually SENT, but they lost my transcript once... I'm a little weary about trusting them again...

i didnt have any problems with AADSAS either. you shouldnt have any problems if you follow the instructions.

so..... i'm getting that you're both indirectly suggesting that I just ask my dentist to send that one letter out....

you'll have to wait until you create your AADSAS application for the 08 cycle. you need the transcript matching form. give that to your dentist, have him attach it to the letter, and send it.

there's a slight problem with this... the application doesnt become available until MID-MAY. I'm officially leaving the area before that time and his office is located there. He's not too keen with the internet and i'd probably have to fax it to him (although at that point, it seems as if it's just wayyy to much trouble), would it hurt me if I didn;t have the form attached to the letter?

the problem with your plan is that you wont have an 2008 account until then so having him send it to AADSAS now is not a smart move. right now is their "downtime" between cycles. only have things sent to them once you have created an application, it will save you trouble in the long run. you dont need the form but it helps them process your application faster. without the form you may run into the problems that others have talked about. its always best to follow instructions. by the way, it only takes like 2 sec to fax something.

😉 you know, I know that it only takes two seconds... the old man however... boy is he easily irritable even though he's awesome.. thansk for the info, you're responses are super

Ok, how come everyone here is reading their LOR's? My school uses a form for profs to fill out and we have to sign a waiver saying we forfeit our right to read it.

No one's reading their LORs, I'm talking about the actual LOR in its physical form. Occasionally my profs hand back the LORs if you ask for multiple ones..
