hello all. i am applying to all osteopathic schools for 08 and was wondering if the osteo schools you interviewed with gave you much heat for retaking core science classes? the reason i am asking is i need to make a decision whether to take extra science courses or retake some core courses that i did subpar in. also is there a lot of questions reguarding A.T. Still? i read 2 books about DOs but i certainly wouldnt be able to recite his biography. any info would b appreciated.. best of luck to those who are awaiting their acceptances... kudos

Not sure about the retaking core classes thing. Although they may ask you about it in the interview, it will neither keep you from getting an interview nor block your acceptance.

AT Still might come up in the interview, but they assume that all applicants have read about and know about the field they're trying so desperately to enter, so don't look for it to be a focal point of the interview. They are FAR more likely to ask you about something in your application, like how you came to volunteer at this place, or what your extracurriculars were like, etc.

For now, try and convince yourself that you can't prepare for everything. It's not like an exam.

First get an interview. After that, you'll have plenty of time to worry about the nuances of the day. First things first, though.

I retook some courses. Went on 3 interviews. Only one of the schools brought it up indirectly. "What changes have you made in your study habits that will make you a successful medical student?"

Having a solid MCAT score, increasing grade trend, recent successful coursework, etc. helps when discussing this. You want to be able to "show and tell".

Definitely retake D's and F's. Retaking C's requires more thought though. What's your GPA?

I have about a 3.4 overall and a 2.9 science... taking the mcats in august i average around a 27-28 on recent practice mcats. i guess i'll be retaking a few of my sciences next fall and spring because i have the opportunity to..

thanks for the info guys. best of luck

Keep in mind that anything on your application file is fair game. Look at the "Interview Feedback" section of SDN and peruse some interview feedback of the schools that you're thinking of applying to; you will see some of the questions that they asked.

I didn't get any AT Still or osteopathic history questions. Every school asked either, "Why Osteopathic Medicine?", "Why this school?" or both. Definitely read the interview feedback section to get an idea of what you could be asked.
