Hello everyone,

I am an MS4 and have obviously been out of the "application craze" for a while now. When I applied, the application was paper and the earliest date you could apply was June 1st. My fiancee is applying to med school this year and we went over the AAMC instructions and info on the website, but there seem to be no mention of the earliest date that you could submit the application. Does anyone know if it is still June 1st or is it pretty much anytime after the electronic application comes out. I appreciate your help and good luck.

They say around June 1st. I think it will be later than that.

UUHF-
you answer so many of my questions... so, once we fill out the amcas, how do we know when we can send it in???

I'm glad I can help.

It's hard to tell when they'll finally allow the submission. It's kind of like when they opened the thing they'll finally allow for submission one day. The "Certification and Transmission" section will actually have a "submit" button rather than a message saying you can't send it.

I also imagine that they'll put a message on the AAMC website.

Other than that, I don't think there'll be any notice.

Most of this is true although last year they sent me an email saying that I could now submit (they used the email that you enter when filling out AMCAS). I wouldn't rely on it though.

That would be nice of them if they did! After all, they do have applicant's E-mail in the system.

Yeah I was surprised when I received it since AMCAS is notoriously not user friendly (the surprise is the only reason I remember getting it). It really didn't affect me much since I didn't submit for another week after receiving the email (still proofreading etc).

Last year, the magic date was posted on the AMCAS site a few days prior to that actual "submit button appears day" (which I think was midnight Tues June 3.) Up until the week prior, the site read "on or around June 1" (which last year was a Sunday.) It was probably on Thursday or Friday May 29 or 30 that the message about midnight June 3 was posted. This year, since June 1 is a Tuesday, that might actually be the date, but you never know.
